iOS 8.0.1 and Invert Colors

On a iPhone 5s after upgrading to iOS 8.0.1 the switch in General > Accessability > Invert Colors works backwards. When the switch is set to Invert Colors ON the colors are normal and when the switch is set to Invert Colors OFF the colors are inverted. Turning Zoom off fixes the problem and turning on Zoom recreates the problem. As I teach the use of the Accessabiltiy features of iOS to visually impaired individuals I need to leave Zoom turned on and zoom in and out as needed. While this is a minor annoyance at this point on my device testing the new OS, however, it would be very disconcerting to my students who are learning a new assistive technology device and it acts in this way. As a result I will not begin training with this new operating system update until this has been resolved.

Hi AppleUser2110,

If you are having issues with the functionality of your Accessibility features being changed, you may want to try some things to troubleshoot.

First, quit all running applications and test again -

iOS: Force an app to close

Next, I would try restarting the iPhone -

Turn your iOS device off and on (restart) and reset

If the issue is still present, you may want to restore the iPhone as a new device -

I had the same problem with the backwards toggle and solved it accidentally. If you haven't already restored your device, or to fix it if it happens again, here is what worked for me:

Settings > General > Accessibility > Zoom

  • Switch on "Show Controller" (You may need to toggle it off and then on again.)
  • Tap the zoom controller and select "Choose Filter." If your "Inverted" filter is checked, switch to "None."
  • (You can Hide the controller now)
  • If your Zoom Region is set to Full Screen Zoom, you may want to switch it to Window Zoom.

I'm guessing I accidentally turned on full screen zoom, with a zoom setting at 0% and an inverted filter selected. The inverted filter must not talk to the invert color toggle.

THANK YOU!!!!

it was driving me insane as well! (I was *this* close to just restoring/resetting my entire iPhone 5s (iOS 8.2), as I thought it was a bug or a glitch

I use Zoom all the time - but I have Show Controller turned off. - yet for some unknown reason, sometimes the controller still comes up (even zoom window),

so guess somehow I flipped it to invert. (while it was still in my pocket)

thank god i was able to google up this thread!!!

it's something Apple should address, ..as Im sure it's occurred to countless other people.

those preferences should be available in the zoom control preferences,. not hidden inside the controller button as they are now.
